Chinese court sentences four to prison for stealing virtual items…

tencentIn a precedent setting case, a court in Shenyang has sentenced four men to prison for stealing nearly US$15,000 in QQ coins and virtual items from a fellow cyber cafe user.  QQ coins, the virtual currency of China’s most popular instant messaging platform QQ, have become the most widely accepted form of virtual currency in the country.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency, the court ruled that although there are currently no laws specifically existed to legitimize virtual property, as players have paid time and money to accumulate them, they should be protected.
